Life without Electricity in the Household

Our power went out in a wind storm about 10pm on Feb. 11th. It is now about noon on the 13th and so far no power. I am sitting at the Hot Spot Coffee house for the 2nd day in a row so I can use the internet and stay warm. Coffee buzzes aren't so bad are they? {as her hands shake}

Isn't this place sooo cute? Here is where I have "camped out" in my own little warm room!
Hubby did go pick up a small generator yesterday on his way to work and got it set up once he got home. So we had a small disc heater, a lamp, the sump pump hooked into that last night. The kids and Dave played checkers while I sat (as in pic) with Sadie and Gizmo on my lap and tried to stay warm.
This morning I was able to unplug the heater, lamp and phone chargers and plug in my coffee maker and toaster! Yeah...coffee.
The kids were up early and sacked out on the floor with blankets and did their reading for the day. We aren't sure when the power is going to come back on. We have heard by tonight and we have also heard by Sunday...(that would be the 15th!). So who knows. But its not a big deal as long as we don't have any pipes freeze or the basement flood..and since we have a generator now I don't have to worry about the basement flooding...we can make the best of it. Plus we have hot water - so thank goodness we won't be stinky cold people!!
